 AF access terminal, data modem

          TG9 is entirely programmable low frequency access unit with two inbuilt modems. Basic function of TG9 unit is efficient multipurpose use of TC channel and data transmission with various speeds and bandwidths.

 

          The unit enables transmission of the following information:
 - external narrowband modems signals;
 - integrated modems signals; 
 - signals of various terminal equipment within 4 kHz AF band;
 - teleprotection equipment signals.

                

 

           The following building blocs are incorporated into the TG9 unit to enable above mentioned TC services:
 - programmable modem TG1; V.24 RS232 digital interface;
 - programmable modem TG2; V.24 RS232 digital interface;
 - universal purpose AF interfaces AF1; 4-w interface;
 - universal purpose AF interface or teleprotection interface AF2; 4-w interface;
 - AF1 line interface, applicable in case of external operation; 4-w interface;
 - AF2 line interface, applicable in case of external operation; 4-w interface.

 

          TG9 is used as AF access unit of ET9 equipment – integrated mode of operation or as independent device – external mode of operation.

 

          Integrated mode of operation 
           TG9 unit represents AF access unit of ET9 equipment. In case of integrated mode of operation mapping of user interfaces AF1, AF2, TG1 and TG2 into not more than two PLC channels of ET9 equipment is enabled.


          External mode of operation
          An independent TG9 device consists of PS power supply part and CMS supervision unit with UCR housing. AF1 interface and/or AF2 interface operate as line interface. All signals on TG9 access unit 4-w AF1 and/or AF2 interfaces are analog and within frequency range from 300 to 3720 Hz.
 
          The following user interfaces are enabled on the TG9 unit in external mode of operation:
 - modem TG1; 50 – 1200 Bd FSK, 2400 – 14400 bps QAM;
 - modem TG2; 50 – 1200 Bd FSK, 2400 – 14400 bps QAM;
 - 1x 4-w AF AF2 interface operating as user interface or as 4-w transmission path for TG1.
 
          TG9 enables two various line interface mode of operation:
 - Option 1 - AF1 interface operates as 4-w transmission path for signals connected to TG1, TG2 and AF2 interface. Such operation mode is provided for operation of two FSK modems through one line interface within frequency range 300 – 3720 Hz.
 - Option 2 - AF1 interface operates as 4-w transmission path for signals connected to TG1 modem; AF2 interface operates as 4-w transmission path for signals connected to TG2 modem.
